I agree, though I make it a point to always presume innocence. What bothers me is the rush to call what looks like a sadistic mass killing, not a political one, terrorism. It’s another cheapening of the meaning of the word which only serves to legitimize extra-legal state violence further. And that’s not good for anyone.
Contrary to common belief, an act of terrorism doesn’t need a political motive to be terrorism. That massacre’s purpose was to terrify people, and it has. Why else would it be so planned, and heavily armed, and at a movie theatre on opening night? That’s enough of a definition for terrorism that I need.
And we’re not cheapening anything. It doesn’t matter whether or not it was of a political nature, children fucking died.
Children died, therefore it’s terrorism? Children die due to market mechanisms in health care, does that make The Cato Institute a terrorist group? You have these really shitty metrics, because, for a decade, we all lost our fucking minds and learned to equate terrorism with ‘really bad thing.’ It has a precise meaning. It’s a political practice. And yes, treating some fuckwit who decides to kill people so that he can watch them run as terrorism is bad. It’s bad for our discourse. Do I care, in a way, I do. because in many cases I am seeing the “All social Justive bloggers are—-” I speak on issues that many other “Social justice bloggers” speak on, so when I feel like I am being grouped in with them, I feel the need to explain to people in this tag, that not all social bloggers participated in the actions of running little red riding hood off.
I am not saying she “has to be sorry.” I am saying that when she made her apology, she could have worded it better. That her putting unnecessary experiance doesn’t represent the experiance of other Islamic women. Or Poc, or Trans people. Therefore it wasn’t (in MANY peoples opinion) a good apology.

I assume it’s because the past caught up with her, however I believe because no one truly realized her apology wasn’t an apology at all. Many people just discovered about her past statements, and even though it was in the past, and people have confronted her recently about it now, she isn’t just sitting down and accepting its apart of her past, she tries to justify her comments by saying “IN my experience..” therefore silencing the people of marginalized groups in whom she disrespected. Of course, this is only from what I’ve seen.
I dont get why its just her, when theres other youtubers who hate religion WAY more. frankly i do agree about the sexism in islam, and generally despise all religion anyway…
I think there’s sexism in all religions, but I don’t think that it’s original intent was that at all. Many religions are represented by preachers and priests who wish to brainwash rathar than influence good behaviors that almost every relgion teaches.
Why it’s just her being targeted? Because she’s popular. Many people know who she is. Her mistake wasn’t handled well either. I think other Youtbers probably get the same amount of hate but casually don’t deal with it. Laci attacked her critics and that only made the spark worse.
